Q: Mini cooper transmission swap from auto to manual..how hard?
I found a 2002 mini cooper for sale with a broken transmission..problem is it’s an auto..I’m a sporty girl and I love my manual cars..so I was wondering just how much it would be to swap it..how much work would have to be done and how much you think it’d cost on average..just a guess please..i’d have to buy a transmission and it seems like they cost about the same, manual or auto..
my question is about the actual swap..how much you think they’d charge for it..about..guess please..

A: You would be better off just buying a manual car. In order to swap that out, you’d be looking at changing not only the transmission, but the pedal assembly, console and shifter components, wiring harnesses, computer(s), possibly driveshafts, possibly instrument cluster, as well as various small parts like brackets, etc. You would have to cap off and remove cooler lines, and install the clutch hydraulics, if any. In short, you would need a complete donor car, which makes the whole project moot. On top of that, it’s probably illegal in some places.

Q: Mini Cooper with US specs: What would it take to sell it on the German economy?
I bought a 2007 Mini Cooper through US Military Sales in Germany. The car has US spec’s, so I can take it back to the USA if I wished. I am thinking of selling it on the German economy. Does anyone know if I would have to convert it to “German spec’s” in order to sell it to a German and for it to pass inspection for a German? And, what would it take to convert it to German spec’s? Is it easily done or not worth it?

A: Now, for an answer form someone who OWNS one.
The one your interested in has a 1.6 liter supercharged engine. Goes like a bat out of heII.

They’re safer than Suck-UV’s and pick-ups, and have outperformed both in crash tests. In a Mini you can AVOID an accident. Other cars you’re just along for the ride. They have six airbags.

They’re reliable than most cars. But to be honest, the 2002-04 Minis have had a few tranny problems. This was solved in the 2005 and later models with the bullitt-proof Getrag tranny.

Q: Is this worth getting? a rebuilder mini cooper?
okay this sound crazy, but I found a mini cooper that is for sale and it was in a flood. This Auto Parts place has it as a rebuilder for sale at $9,500. It has a bad engine and floor board damage and It might need a new paint job. It is a 2005 Mini Cooper and it has 35,953 miles on it. My question is how much do you think it would cost to repair all the damages? Would it be worth buying? or is it a bad deal?

A: Hello,I rebuild damaged vehicles professionally.
A vehicle like that can look really nice and innocent but become your worst nightmare.Fresh water flooding is bad but salt water is so corrosive that every electrical part is destroyed.And the paperwork alone diminishes the value a huge amount.
Personally,I would stay away from it because it will become an unreliable money pit.
A better situation might be a unit that was lightly damaged or stolen then recovered.

Q: How easy is it to drive the new Mini Cooper S?
is it easy to drive the new Mini Cooper S model with manual transmission? i see alot of people with those cars around and it seems like a fun ride. is this true? i’m not really a great stick shift driver, but do you think i’d have a hard time learning it on this car?

and what is the downside to owning/driving a Cooper S?
i tend to do my own oil changes and tune ups and other minor maintenance work on my car, will it be difficult to do these things on a Cooper S at home? i don’t like bringing my car(s) to the dealer for anything other than to buy my parts.

finally, i see that Coopers depreciate fairly quickly. 2002-2003 Cooper S are already about -35% down in price from retail. I see alot of used ones for sale on the Internet.

A: it’s easy enough… because it’s a small car… this car got’s a good handling and a good acceleration i think… i think it doesn’t “Drink” too much gas… a good car for big citys… it’s a good deal… I got a daewoo tico 2001… this car “drinks” in the city 4 liters at 100 km… in the outside of city “drinks” 3 liters per 100 km

Q: How to ask for FREE stuff when picking up my new car (mini cooper) from the dealer?
Im getting my new car (mini) tommorow and I want to know if Im suppose to ask upfront about the free stuff- e.g. keyring, other cool stuff that they have (which are general for sale). if i need to ask, how would i suppose ask? or would they give me whatever they have?

A: You do like you have here….You ask them. They usually will whine a little but eventually will toss in a few “trinkets” (hats, t-shirts, key rings etc.)

Q: Is there any problems with a Automatic Mini Cooper 2003 Model? I found one for only $5,000 for sale.?

A: I’ve heard of there being transmission failure in the manual 5 speed transmission 2003 Mini’s, but nothing else significant.

“An occasional problem on this vehicle is failure of the 5-speed Manual Transmission, standard Mini Cooper only. Does not apply to the 6-speed Manual Transmission on the Mini Cooper S or to the Automatic Transmission. The cost to repair the 5-speed Manual Transmission is estimated at $1785 for parts and $650 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat-rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.”

It could have other problems though from lack of maintenance. The only way to know is to have it inspected.
